Dragon Boat Atlanta’s season is well under way. After participating in festivals in Chattanooga, TN and Charleston, SC, we have settled down at home while participating in the LCKC Dragon Boat Racing Series at Lake Lanier. This event consists of a series of practices, followed by mini races over a period of 4 months. The team came in 2nd in their division after the first race and we’re looking forward to our 2nd series this month.

The last week in June, we will be hosting a group from Anderson, SC helping them learn to paddle and providing guidance on starting a team. Four members of their newly formed team will join us in July for the FDJ International Dragon Boats for the Cure, an annual dragon boat festival held in Windsor, ON to help raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.

We are actively looking for survivors to join our team and especially to participate in next year’s International Dragon Boat Festival to be held in Peterborough, Ontario. Anyone interested in paddling with us should contact Beverly Booth at bb1249@bellsouth.net. No paddling experience is necessary and everyone is welcome!
